Why you Need a Power Pose for Your Next Career Move

I’m going to let you in on a secret… you should expect to feel silly during your first power pose experience! But once you see its potential to boost your confidence and adjust your focus, you’ll be hooked!

What is a Power Pose?

A Power Pose (sometimes called Victory Pose) is an attitude shifting, self-improvement technique that is guaranteed to make you feel strong, powerful, and confident.

It doesn’t need to be complicated. Start by standing up straight with your legs wide and hands on your hips (think super-woman style).

Some people, myself included, like to lift their head and arms up high while puffing out their chest. You can even practice a power pose whilst sitting on a chair with your back straight, hands on knees, and head facing forward.

You can also accompany your power pose with a mantra. Something like, “I can do this,” or “I am strong, smart and powerful,” or better yet, “I am going to get this job!”

Why are Power Poses helpful?

Not only does standing in a powerful position automatically makes you feel powerful, but it can also help to lower your stress levels and clear your mind.

Just like adjusting your posture while you’re concentrating on finishing a task, a power pose realigns your focus and clears your mind.

How can a Power Pose help in my job search?

If you are nervous about an upcoming interview…

Or you want to make a positive first impression…

Or maybe you just need to remind yourself that you are capable, qualified and READY…

Practising a power pose (don’t worry, it’s actually recommended you do this in private!) before your big meeting, presentation or interview helps you to prepare your body and your mind for the challenges ahead.

It’s a proven technique for focusing in on your goal and leaving a positive impact on those around you.

Give it a go when you next need a shot of bravery or injection of courage!
